Is this the flag of the new morality police?

There are many progressives who have come to believe that they are part of a party and a belief system that simply wants to create equality for all, feed the poor, and be good stewards of the earth we live in.
They seem to have accepted that the only way to achieve equality for all, to feed the poor and be good stewards of the earth we live in is by empowering a small group of people to coerce 300+ million people to behave good so that everyone will benefit from a world in which everyone is equal, the poor are fed, and the earth is healthy.
They have portrayed conservatives as being against equality, against the poor and definitely against the earth. Why? Because conservatives fundamentally do not believe a highly centralized, highly powerful federal government is the best vehicle to bring about such laudable goals.
Progressives seem to have created a mythical, utopian understanding of ‘government’. They view corporations as being faceless entities run by something other than human beings, but they have assessed that this inanimate object is inherently evil.
At the same time, they seem to also have created a mythical, non-animate understanding of government, but have come to a very different assessment- government is good- that is- government that coerces the right morality, the right progressive morality.
The progressive government that forces proper progressive moral behavior on others is to be trusted with degrees of power that even the most wealthy international corporations can either only dream of or hope to control.
When you view government as the savior of humanity, as progressives (even, sadly, Christian progressives) do, you tend to create standards for the concentration of power in the hands of a few people that you do not apply to corporations, only government. Corporate power is evil. Government power (with a progressive morality) is good and should be trusted.
America was founded on a radical ideal (which was promptly violated) to create a government whose role was to simply protect the freedom and liberty rights of Americans from all enemies, foreign and domestic. This notion that government was not to be the primary engine through which the morality of a people was coerced from all who would dare to refuse to conform to that morality was truly revolutionary. It still is revolutionary.
The progressives want to take us back to the old ways, where we tightly legislated morality. They’ve just changed the definition of morality from God’s morality to the human-centered morality of progressivism.
